The technology associated
with mining was both simple and complex. The prospector wandering
the hills with a mule or burro, shovels, and a pick was using simple tools
in his search for gold. Once the big strike was made, however, the
process of extracting ore from the earth became much more complex.
Miners and mining engineers throughout Nevada responded by inventing, adapting,
and developing tools, such as this amalgamation pan,
and techniques to mine and process the precious metals of the Nevada landscape.
