Legislator's Occupations

The delegates to the 1864 State Constitutional Convention were as diverse as the general population of Nevada.  They ranged in age from 26 to 64 years.  Twenty were married, and one was a widower. Three were foreign born (born in England, Canada, and Ireland), and the rest were born in the United States.

The delegates earned their living in many ways.  There were 11 lawyers, one doctor, two newspaper editors, seven miners, and two farmers.  The rest of the 12 delegates earned their living in various other occupations.
