Inside the Store

The store was a special place, filled with bright and colorful treasures.  The notions, threads, buttons, and fabrics were carefully arranged on the shelves.  Sometimes Momma would let me pick a new ribbon for a school dress or my hair.

In the winter there was always a fire in the stove, and people sat around and visited for a bit while Mrs. Woodliff filled their orders.  My momma always said that if you needed to know who said what about whom, the fasted way was to pay a visit to the store.
