A Letter to Tiza Stewart

Letter from Helen J. Stewart to her daughter, Tiza, October 14, 1919

"There has been coal oil found near the Charleston Mountains on the west side and everybody that can is slipping out of town quietly & looking for oil.  There has been found oil indications near some of my land and when I get a gusher, I am coming right back after you.  Will left this morning on a four days mysterious trip for Jim Ladd and Stevens, one of our attorneys here. . . . Do you remember the mastodon bones we found between Tule and Corn Creek?  You know they found them in the Brae at Los Angeles."
